about

EN - « The interval between life and death is fear », said Indian philosopher Jiddu Krishnamurti. He maintains that living and dying happen at every moment we’re fully alive. According to him, fear rushes into the gap that we create when we separate living from dying. To greet death (physical and symbolic) as a renewal, as a daily way to free ourselves from the known, allows us to live a true life. John Cage also said - « The acceptance of death is the source of all life ». Although we know very well that life has an end, we often cling to all sorts of material and religious securities to avoid asking ourselves this question directly. It is paradoxically thanks to death that life is so beautiful and precious. This composition was based on this thought.

The rhythm used here is the Tchatchagara, from the Sénoufo ethnic group of Kénédougou, which straddles the southern border of Mali and Burkina Faso. It is often used during customary celebrations.
