about

EN - In the introduction of his 1971 record The Afro-Eurasian Eclipse, Duke Ellington mentions the theory of the Canadian academic, Marshall McLuhan, according to whom the culture of the whole world has gone oriental since the Renaissance. In the « Global Village » predicted by McLuhan in the 1960s, no-one will be able to retain his or her identity, not even those in the Orient. Eastern Wind is a composition based on the idea of a cultural melting pot as the future of humanity. It uses a rhythm called Korodiouba from the Sénoufo ethnic group, often played in Mali, as well as sounds from East Africa.
