EN - In this composition, the griot Zouratie Kone tells us about the question of material possessions and respect for each other. Condemning the lack of respect that we have towards the impoverished, he invites everybody to respect and consider them. Doromin Kelen means « money, possession » in Dioula. This song is based on a rhythm called Siraba, which is a hunter’s rhythm found across West Africa. The griot traditionally used this rhythm to remind the hunter of humility and modesty.
Money ‒ we don’t talk about the one who doesn’t earn money
Ni mi do, komon ko, ni mi do. Ni mi do komon ko là sènkelen lado kelen labô
If you believe in the talisman, step in, step out
Hey people, I’m calling out to you; African people, Western people, I’m calling out to you, good evening
The sons of one man cannot buy the doors; this is not an apocalyptic speech
N’kan bè fantaw man, aw yé sabali, I ma na kè fantanyé diyen konon
I am calling out to the poor, let’s forgive, when you are destitute in this world
Nafolo tigi bi ban I la, muso bi ban I la, denbayabi ban i la
Rich people reject you, women reject you, the family rejects you
I am calling out to the people
